Cellule staminali in Australia

Australian Democrats Senator Natasha Stott Despoja tonight put forward a private member’s Bill containing the recommendations of the Lockhart review, which urged the government to lift a ban on harvesting embryos to produce stem cells for research purposes.
The Bill, co-sponsored by Labor’s Ruth Webber, seeks to amend the Prohibition of Human Cloning Act 2002 and the Research Involving Human Embryos Act 2002 to permit the controversial research.
The Senate’s community affairs committee will examine the legislation, which senator Stott Despoja hopes will go to a vote by November.
